Frodsham West by-election 13 March 2014

Liam's letter

Dear Neighbour,

I'm the Conservative Candidate in the forthcoming by-election for Frodsham's West ward.  I am delighted to stand for election to our Town Council.  Frodsham is a terrific place; and should I be fortunate to be elected I will do what I can to ensure that Frodsham continues to be a wonderful town in which to live and work.

I'm delighted that Conservative MP Graham Evans' campaign for a quieter M56 has been successful.  Our Conservative Councillors Andrew Dawson and Lynn Riley have backed this campaign 100% (Andrew started the campaign in 2007!) It's been a great team effort.  The lobbying has ensured that two lanes of the motorway near Frodsham are to be finished with a new type of road surface called 'Whisper Quiet.'  This work will be carried out in the next 18 months.  They are working on having the Highways Agency ensure that all lanes of the motorway near Frodsham receive the same treatment too.  If you'd like to sign Graham's petition to help keep the pressure up you can sign on-line here - go to the campaigns section.  If you are not on the internet and would like to sign the petition with pen and paper please contact me and I'll bring a hard copy and a pen!

One of the other areas that concerns me is air quality.  I am pleased that Cllrs Andrew Dawson and Lynn Riley have secured an air quality monitoring station at Marsh Lane and that they persuaded Peel to pay for an air quality report and forum.  I want to make sure that Frodsham's air quality remains a priority for everyone.  Traffic pollution is the greatest priority.

Finally the wind farm.  As you know Graham, Andrew and Lynn fought the proposal tooth and nail - but the Lib Dem Secretary of State granted it permission.  I know the majority of residents did not support the wind farm - but it is coming.  I pledge to do my best to ensure that the worst effects of the wind farm are mitigated.  If elected I will work with Andrew and Lynn in trying to persuade Peel to move the turbine they plan to site closest to Marsh Lane.

Over the coming weeks I shall be out and about in the area and hope to meet as many of you as possible.  If you have an issue or concern you would like to raise with me please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Kind regards
